How do I upload data to my account?

Uploading data to your account is easy and secure. Once you’ve signed up for an account – you have two ways of uploading data:

  1. If you have a CD or DVD from your provider and you would like to upload it to your account, so that you can view and share it with others. Go to the "Tools" item in your menu -  Click - upload - navigate the file browser to your cd/dvd drive or other file's location and click upload.
  2. If you are looking to establish a permanent connection between one of your modalities (x-ray, us, CR, CT, etc) then you can go to the “Tools” option/tab to download and install our OmniRouter®. The OmniConnector™ is a small software application that can be downloaded and distributed to as many parties as you like and can be used to upload data to your OmniPACS account. There are two ways to use the OmniRouter:
    1. Download and Install the OmniRouter and use it to upload individual files. We support all DICOM, JPG, GIFF, PIC, TIFF, and PDF formats.
    2. Download and install the OmniRouter and point your imaging modalities to it for real time capture from the modality. This option is optimal for high volume accounts, including hospitals, imaging centers, and doctors offices. More information regarding the setup and use of the OmniRouter can be found in our “How To” Section (see the OmniRouter How To).

Should I use the OmniRouter or the other data upload tools?

The OmniRouter is typically used in situations where there is a constant flow of studies to be uploaded to OmniPACS. So usually there is a modality like an ultrasound machine, or an existing PACS that needs to be configured to send to the OmniRouter. Is this the case with your location?

If you would like to just like to upload a patient CD or you already have the image files on your local computer, you can use our Upload tool from within your OmniPACS account without using the OmniRouter. To do this you would:

  1. Log in with your OmniPACS account at
  2. Once logged in, you should see a button on the left side "CD/File Upload" which you should click
  3. This will launch the OmniPACS upload tool. You should select the "Files" tab or the "Patient CD" tab on the top left corner depending upon where your images should be imported from.

What Medical Imaging Modalities does OmniPACS support?

OmniPACS will display all DICOM compliant images of many different modalities (CT, MR, US, CR, DR, XA, NM, SC, etc.) Please note while our system supports the storage and display of many different modalities – the FDA does have additional guidelines requiring Monitor or Displays to be of specific resolution for viewing.

How do I share data with my account?

The ability to share data is the reason OmniPACS was developed. But before you can share data you need to make sure you have data to share and you have contacts to share it with!

To Begin: You must own data to share it - therefore you must have re-sharing rights on data someone has shared with you or has been sent directly to your account from an OmniRouter.

Build your Network of Contacts! You can only share data with authorized users of OmniPACS so - if you want to share studies with someone you need to make them a contact of yours or invite them to join OmniPACS and become one of your contacts.

How do I share data with a patient?

Sharing data with patients is easy and OmniPACS provides you the framework to add this white-glove service to your clients. Just ask your patients for their email and invite them to OmniPACS from your dashboard. You do this by putting their email in the "search/add people" field on your dashboard. Once you are connected with your patient you will find a "share study" button by their name - that will search for their data and allow you to enable sharing.

How do I share data with a referring physician?

Sharing data with referring physicians is easy and one of the reasons the platform was designed. On your dashboard you'll find a list of professional you are connected with. If you are not yet connected with any of your referring physicians - all you need is their email to send them an invitation. Once you are connected to them you will find a "configure sharing" button next to their name. Click this button and follow the instructions to enable a permanent rule that will share all data that is marked for them in real time.

Please contact Support or your technical sales liaison should you desire to setup your workstation to receive studies from your account.

If you are a business user and anticipate sending large volumes, you may elect one of our subscription packages, which will allow you to receive a discounted cost per study, based on volume. I’m a Patient – how do I access my data on OmniPACS?

You can use an OmniPACS account like a personal health record. to access and store your medical images. As a patient you can upload data directly to the system, using the OmniRouter or ask your service provider to “share” the study with you and it should appear in your account.

I am a Provider - how do I burn a CD for a patient who requests a study?

At OmniPACS we are firm believers in remaining portable and electronic. Burning CD or DVD media is not our preferred method of sharing information. We encourage all users who are sharing information to share studies securely through the platforms. Example - if a patient asks for a cd or dvd - you should ask for their email -> invite them to the platform (on the contacts page) -> and once connected share the single study with them. This same concept should apply to whomever requires access - it should always - if possible - be shared through online access and system.

If creating portable media is an absolute requirement we do provide some tools that can make this happen. Currently our platform and viewer will allow you to export data in a number of formats (gif, jpg, and DICOM) you can do this by pulling up the study in the viewer -> click data on the right hand side of the screen -> click export -> choose a file format -> choose a directory location -> hit export. This will create local files of the study that can be copied onto a cd or dvd for further use and distribution.

How do I become an OmniPACS reseller or distribution partner?

OmniPACS has recently release a reseller portal that allows businesses to sell branded OmniPACS services. The feature is accessed on your "Settings" tab. Choose - become a reseller at the bottom of the screen and the many options that enable you to create a distributors account will appear.

Why do I receive an "Out of Memory" error when loading some studies?

This is happening because your default memory setting in Java Settings is too small for large medical images. You can change the setting as follows:

  1. Open the control panel for Windows.
  2. Locate and click the "Java" control panel icon.
  3. Within the Java control panel, select the "Java" tab.
  4. Click the "View" button within the "Java Runtime Settings" section.
  5. You should see a column named Java Runtime Parameters. In this field for your specific Java version enter the value "-Xmx512m" then click "OK".

You can confirm whether or not the change has been configured successfully by logging into CHILI/Web, clicking on Setup, selecting the "Memory" tab and looking at the value next to "Maximum memory available". If you've configured the value in step 5 above to "-Xmx512m", then you should see "Maximum memory available 508 MB".

On a Mac: Use "Finder" to get to: Applications -> Utilities -> Java and then, Choose your Java Version and click -> Options Then add the Memory setting "-Xmx512m" no quotes.  For additional performance enhancements choose the option to run Java in its own process (not in browser).

  3. Select the "Local cache" tab.
